The homeland of Aphrodite is no longer just a historical landmark or a beach holiday destination for sun-seeking tourists;  it has been discovered as an ideal sporting venue for which golf is the new jewel in the crown.  The two golf courses of Tsada and Secret Valley on the island of Cyprus are soon to be joined by another, making it an even more tempting destination for the keen golfer and Andali Villa is handy for both golf courses.

Besides the quality of these courses, the enviable climate enables golfers to enjoy the warmth of the Mediterranean throughout the year. In terms of building a reputation as a quality golf destination alongside Spain and Portugal, Cyprus is currently doing very well, and being not too far to travel, a winter break makes these courses ideal golfing holidays.

Should you care to visit in the very hot months of June, July and August, you can mix your time between the golf course and the beach or your villa's pool.  If it is too hot to venture onto the course in the afternoons, take a round of golf in the mornings, followed by a dip in the pool in the afternoon for that perfect holiday.

All players must be 16 years and over, be able to produce a current handicap certificate and have a maximum handicap for a gentleman of 28 and 36 for ladies.  Players without a handicap certificate will be allowed to play the courses after 11.00 o'clock.  Dress Codes are strictly enforced, only tailored knee length shorts allowed. No T-Shirts.  Men`s shirts must have a collar and long or short sleeves. Ladies must have shirt collars but will be allowed short sleeves.  All players to wear golfing shoes with soft spikes but trainers maybe allowed.

Secret Valley Golf Course

Secret Valley Golf Club is a panoramic course which is great fun from start to finish. Most of its holes meander through the scenic valley granting a wonderful, picture-friendly backdrop. 18 km east of Paphos, near to "Petra tou Rominou" the legendary birthplace of "Aphrodite", the Greek Goddess of Love.

Only 10-15 minutes drive from Pissouri, lying in a beautiful scenic valley dotted with mature trees, and surrounded by natural rock formations, the Secret Valley Golf Course will test all your skills and technique, over 6120 metres to par 72.

The front nine, over 3025 metres, offer four warm-up holes, two opportunities for a birdie, and an easy dog-leg - if you know how!   The back nine, over 3133 metres, gives you no warm-up holes - the 18th at par 5 over 515 metres finishes with what appear to be lakes on the back side of the green.  The Clubhouse has a well stocked Pro-shop, a bar and restaurant. Practice facilities include putting greens and chipping area.

A PGA professional is available for tuition sessions, together with the latest video coaching technology.

Tsada Golf Course

The first grass golf course to be developed in Cyprus, completed in April 1994. Only 20 minutes from Pafos Town, on an elevated position some 500 metres above sea level, ensuring cool sea breezes for those long hot summer months.

Designed by Donald Steel, this golf course is part of the historic "Stavros tis Minthis" monastery, giving an air of timelessness and romance.  The clubhouse includes a Pro Shop, Restaurant, Bar and a ladies and gents changing rooms with showers.  Tennis courts and outdoor swimming pool for those relaxing hours after that glorious game of golf, or for the spouse who may not wish to take in a round of golf and stay behind at the club house for a total relaxing day.

Guidance and tuition is obtainable through the Pro Shop, given by the local PGA professional.  Manual and  electric trolleys as well as clubs and golf-balls are available for hire.  A driving range, 2 practice putting greens and bunker gives you the opportunity to warm up before your round of golf begins.
